What it costs has two parts: the advertised fee, and the exchange-rate margin kept by paying your recipient less than the mid-market rate. The margin is usually the larger, and is never labelled as a fee. Figures are each provider’s published terms, with the fee figures checked against each provider’s own published schedule — open a provider for a live quote.
Too few checked amounts on this corridor to rank by money, so the order is payout coverage, delivery speed and published fees — a provider with a checked figure is not placed above one without. Affiliate arrangements never affect this order.
No labels are awarded on this corridor. With 3 providers the table is the comparison, and calling one of them best of 3 would dress a short list up as a finding.
Where two providers tie, the one supporting more payout types is listed first, then the faster one, then alphabetically. A label is left unawarded whenever the data we hold cannot support it — we would rather show fewer claims than invented ones. No provider on this corridor publishes its exchange rate in advance, so no Best value is named here. Full methodology
What these figures are
- Fees
- As each provider publishes them, September 2026. A provider that does not publish a fee for this corridor shows none rather than a guess.
- Payout methods, delivery speed, promotions
- Read from each provider’s own pages for this corridor and last reviewed September 2026. Where a provider’s own sources disagree, the disagreement is printed rather than resolved.
Independent — providers cannot pay for placement or ranking · Consistent — every checked amount measured on the same corridor at the same send amount, and any fee quoted on a different basis says so on its own row · Transparent — the advertised fee kept separate from the rate margin
How money arrives in India
True of India whoever is sending, so it is researched once and shown on every corridor that ends here. Nothing on this list is a price.
IFSC code
Money sent to an Indian bank account is addressed with the recipient's account number together with their branch's IFSC code. NPCI lists account number plus IFSC as one of the ways a payment can be addressed, alongside a UPI ID. — National Payments Corporation of India, September 2026
Ways it can arrive
- Bank deposit
- Under the Reserve Bank of India's Money Transfer Service Scheme, anything above Rs.50,000 must reach the recipient by account-payee cheque, demand draft or payment order, or be credited directly to their bank account. — Reserve Bank of India, Master Circular on the Money Transfer Service Scheme, September 2026
- UPI
- UPI is an instant payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India, an RBI-regulated entity. A recipient can be paid at a UPI ID in the form xyz@upi rather than by account details. — National Payments Corporation of India, September 2026
- Cash pickup
- The Reserve Bank of India permits up to Rs.50,000 to be paid in cash to a beneficiary in India under the Money Transfer Service Scheme. Above that, cash is not an option. — Reserve Bank of India, Master Circular on the Money Transfer Service Scheme, September 2026
What your recipient needs
- For anything above Rs.50,000 the recipient cannot simply collect cash: they need a bank account, or must be able to accept an account-payee cheque, demand draft or payment order. — Reserve Bank of India, Master Circular on the Money Transfer Service Scheme, September 2026
Rules on money coming in
- The Money Transfer Service Scheme covers only inward personal remittances into India, such as money towards family maintenance. The Reserve Bank of India excludes donations to charitable institutions or trusts, trade-related remittances, money towards buying property, investments, and credits to NRE accounts. — Reserve Bank of India, Master Circular on the Money Transfer Service Scheme, September 2026
- The Reserve Bank of India caps an individual remittance under the Money Transfer Service Scheme at USD 2,500. — Reserve Bank of India, Master Circular on the Money Transfer Service Scheme, September 2026
- A single individual beneficiary may receive only 12 remittances under the Money Transfer Service Scheme in a calendar year. — Reserve Bank of India, Master Circular on the Money Transfer Service Scheme, September 2026

How much you send changes which provider is cheapest
A transfer costs two things: a fee you can see, and a cut of the exchange rate you cannot. They scale in opposite directions, so the best provider for kr200 to India is often not the best provider for kr5,000.
The flat fee is most of what you pay
On a small transfer a kr5 fee is a real percentage of the money. A rate margin of half a percent on kr200 is one dollar — small enough to ignore. Sort by the fee and take the lowest one you trust.
The exchange rate is most of what you pay
The fee stops mattering and the rate takes over. Half a percent on kr5,000 is kr25 — five times a typical fee, and no provider calls it a charge. A zero-fee offer on a large transfer is the one most worth checking.

What is the fastest way to send money to India?
Western Union quotes the fastest delivery on this corridor at minutes to days. Published speeds describe the fastest route a provider offers, not every route: paying by card and sending to a wallet is usually near-instant, while a bank transfer funded by direct debit takes longer whoever you send with.

Before you send to India
- Wise's Swedish tables carry eight funding rows, and two of them are open-banking bank payments: a generic one and Trustly, named separately. Trustly costs 65.27 SEK where the generic option costs 60.71 SEK, for what is functionally the same act — paying from your own bank account. Trustly is the familiar Swedish brand, and picking it by name costs about 4.56 SEK more than picking the unbranded option directly beside it.
- The generic open-banking option and an ordinary bank transfer are priced identically here, both at 60.71 SEK. That differs from the euro markets on this site, where open banking is consistently the cheaper of the two. In Sweden it saves you the typing, not the money.
- Wise's credit card figure is not quoted here. Two independent reads of the page on the same day returned 188.55 SEK and 142.09 SEK. Its debit card row held at 92.24 SEK across both reads and is published.
- Remitly is the only service on this page offering UPI payout. For a recipient paid mainly through UPI that is a different product from a bank deposit, not a cheaper version of one.
- Wise quotes its Swedish tables at 10,000 SEK, not the 1,000 of the local unit it uses on most markets — roughly 900 euro, and a fourth distinct basis on this site after the 1,000 default, Switzerland's 2,000 and Norway's 8,000. A krona figure cannot be read against a euro or pound figure without converting first.
What it costs to send money to India
Sending money from Sweden to India converts Swedish kronas (SEK) into Indian rupees (INR). Most of the real cost is not the headline fee — it is the exchange-rate margin, the gap between your quoted rate and the mid-market rate banks use between themselves. Two providers can both advertise "no fees" and still differ by several percent on what actually arrives.
India's IMPS rail settles instantly around the clock, so bank deposits often land within minutes rather than days.
That is why the comparison above leads with how your recipient can be paid rather than with a headline price: match the service to how they actually want the money, then check the final quote.
How to choose the right provider
Compare the amount received, not the fee
Enter the same amount with two or three providers and compare what your recipient in India actually receives in Indian rupees. That one number folds the fee and the rate margin together.
Match the payout method to your recipient
In India the common rails are IMPS and NEFT bank deposit. A slightly pricier provider paying into the wallet or account they already use beats a cheaper one that means a trip to an agent.
Check cash pickup coverage before you send
Remitly and Western Union offer cash pickup in India. Check the specific branch is open and stocked before sending, especially outside major cities.
Verify the provider is licensed
